SRL National Moves Bigley Memorial to Freedom Factory

It’s the first Late Model race at the facility since 2017

The Bill Bigley Sr. Memorial 128 is moving to the Freedom Factory.

Scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend, the race was set to move to Citrus County Speedway following a seven-year stint at Charlotte County, but a series of management changes at both facilities has led to high level Super Late Model racing moving to the former Desoto Speedway in Bradenton, Florida.

Now owned by Lawrence Garrett Mitchell, better known as Youtuber Cleetus McFarland, SRL National promoter Ricky Brooks worked with Mitchell to bring racing back to the 3/8th mile in the form of the SRL Sportsman division.

Now Super Late Models will return on November 24-25.

“We couldn’t be prouder to work with the Bigley Family to help put on this event to honor Bill Sr.,” said Brooks. “We hosted an SRL Sportsman race at the Freedom Factory earlier this year, and it’s going to be a great place to bring the Bigley Memorial.”

A press release touted the passion Bigley Sr. had for Stock Car racing.

“We are excited to have the tradition carry on at the Freedom Factory,” stated Billy Bigley Jr. in the release. “This will be the 8th year for the Bill Bigley Sr. Memorial, all where it started 8 years ago, this year it will be sanctioned with SRL National Super Late Model Tour, with Ricky Brooks and his staff running the show and I hope to see everyone there.”
