NASCAR issues lengthy Martinsville 300 penalty sheet

The following penalties have been issued in the aftermath of the ValleyStar Credit Union (Late Model 300 at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday night.

Team owner and crew chief Chad Bryant has been fined $2,000 and suspended indefinitely from NASCAR. He is also suspended from participating in the 2027 Martinsville 300 and placed on probation by NASCAR for one year. Bryant is also required to complete anger management training through a program mandated by the Sanctioning Body.

CBR crew member Steven Civitarese has been fined $1000 and suspended indefinitely from NASCAR with a one-year probation. Ryden Lapcevich, Treyten’s younger brother and mechanic, of CBR has been fined $500 and placed on probation through the end of next year.

Bryant, Civatarese and Lapceivch were in violation of Sections 12-6.1C & 12-6.1C2 of the NASCAR Rule Book, which pertains to ‘member-to-member confrontation(s) with physical violence.’

Typically, an indefinite suspension gets lifted when a member under penalty completes the terms of the process for reinstatement. In the case of the Chad Bryant Racing crew, that will likely mean Bryant’s anger management program and the paying of fines.

The probation is then a mechanism in which to ensure good behavior in the short term after reinstatement. If there is another violation of the rule book, the member on probation could face even stiffer penalties.

For their heat race altercation, Brad Houseright and Chase Burrow have both been fined $250 and placed on NASCAR probation through the end of next year. Burrow affiliated crew members Ryan Burrow, his father, and Dylan Jenks have been fined $500 and placed on NASCAR probation through the end of next year.
