Tyler Sontag

Two-time defending UARA Sportsman champion Dodge Carlbert, who hasn’t found the winner’s circle all season, finally broke through for his first of 2026 at the Freedom Factory, leading a strong 55 of 75 laps. Carlbert addressed this win was important to him as its his first with his daughter at the track.

“As you know, we just struggled with mechanical failures, tire issues, and just bad luck all year,” Carlbert stated after his win. “I know coming back to my hometown, this was really the first race all year besides Auburndale, where my daughter could be here and it was the first win with my daughter, so I asked ‘Where’s my daughter at?’ I’m super excited, super emotional for me.”

Dylan Bigley qualified on the pole, however with the dice roll was inverted down to sixth, giving Cody Struble the top spot with Carlbert to his outside for the beginning of 75 laps. Struble led the opening 17 laps while under pressure from Dodge Carlbert until a spin from Matthew Green brought out the first caution of the evening.

Carlbert and Struble battled hard on the ensuing restart, with the former being credited in the lead on lap 20 before a spin by Codey Benoit halted action again. Adam Briggs emerged to third in pursuit of Struble for second before Dan Partelo’s spin caused the third caution.

Carlbert finally set in leading for a small stint of thirteen laps until Rice Robinson made contact with the backstretch wall on lap 37, for the fourth stoppage. Matthew Green spun off the nose of Kipp McVey on lap 53, going around a second time in the feature.

Carlbert opened a healthy gap on the final restart with little challenge behind him as Struble and Briggs battled until the No. 19 of Struble went for a slide through the grass with only two laps to go. Bigley was the benefactor of this contact, ending his race in second as Carlbert took his first checkered flag of the year.
