With $3,000 on the line at “The Madhouse,” it was Brandon Ward who took down the win in the Modified feature after 100 laps at Bowman-Gray Stadium.
Ward made a power move to get around longtime Bowman-Gray star Burt Myers for the lead on the race’s final restart. Despite Myers’ best efforts to bump Ward out of the top spot, Ward ended up holding on for the victory.
Frank Fleming sat on pole, and led much of the opening part of the race. Eventually, Myers entered the battle for the lead and got out front with less than 30 laps to go.
Ward, however, would have the last laugh, getting in position to make his race-winning move.
“[My crew] don’t give up on me, I can’t give up on them,” Ward said after the race. “I just felt if I could get a good start and get back to the front, get some laps under us and get some bite back in it getting in the corner, we’d be okay.”

Pretty good race. Burt could have railroaded him, but didn’t. Hope BGS does more of these races. If I still lived near there I would be there errey Saturday night.
