The entry list for the inaugural ‘Madhouse Classic’ on Saturday at Bowman Gray Stadium has been released alongside the announcement that it will air live on FloRacing and the NASCAR Tubi Channel.
A preliminary event to the NASCAR Cup Series Cook Out Clash this weekend, the ‘Madhouse Classic’ is an invitational for the premier Tour Type Modified division that races at the venerable quarter mile inside of a college football stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The race was originally open to track regulars in the form of the top-20 in the championship standings from last season, and then, to fill out the field, reaching outside of the local competitors but those with ties to the track.
That came in the form of current Cup Series driver Ryan Preece and 2000 series champion Bobby Labonte, driving for Hughes Motorsports and Sadler-Stanley Racing respectively. Preece won a NASCAR Southern Modified Tour race at The Stadium in 2013.
Previous ‘Madhouse Modified’ champions on the entry list include Tin Brown and Burt Myers, their combined 23 titles, who are also making their Cup Series debuts over the weekend. Danny Bohn, who won the 2014 title, and Brandon Ward, who claimed the championship in 2023 are also represented in the field.
FloRacing has been the home of Bowman Gray Stadium for three years and will continue to be well into the future after signing an extension with NASCAR that begins this year.
“NASCAR’s return to Bowman Gray Stadium for this year’s Clash is a historic moment in the world of motorsports,” said Michael Rigsby, General Manager of FloRacing. “We’re overly excited to be a part of that history by streaming the inaugural Cook Out Madhouse Classic live on FloRacing.”
The Madhouse Classic is 125 laps and the green flag is scheduled for Saturday at 1:45. The Modifieds will receive a 45-minute practice session beginning at 11:15 a.m. ET on Saturday, February 1. Qualifying will follow at Noon.
