CARS STARS National and UARA will co-promote Battle at Berlin in 2027

As part of a broader effort to collaborate more, Short Track Scene has learned that the CARS STARS Super Tour, née ASA STARS National Tour, and UARA National will team up to co-promote the Tekton Battle at Berlin in 2027.

This is the byproduct of a meeting held earlier in the month in which all parties began to work towards finding common ground on a unified rule book in pavement Super Late Model racing.

Those details are still being sorted out but both UARA series director Ricky Brooks and new CARS STARS co-owner Kevin Harvick both praised each other in the days after the meeting.

The relationship between UARA and ASA STARS had been testy in recent year, especially during the time the latter sanctioning body was operated by Track Enterprises president Bob Sargent.

But Harvick has reopened the dialogue, taking a stance that they have a blank slate with each other, and there’s no reason not to try. Brooks stated that he appreciated that Harvick was ‘no bs,’ in his candor and intent, and Harvick stated that Brooks is a ‘really smart guy,’ that Super Late Model racing needs to get the discipline moving in the right direction.

Brooks launched what eventually became UARA, née SRL National, when he and Sargent couldn’t reach an agreement to do business together.

In the years since, UARA National has created a niche following of racers that has solid car counts and strong purses. That includes the two races at Berlin Raceway – events that were stalwarts on the old CRA schedule.

Harvick and CARS STARS co-owners Marty Melo and Tim Huddleston covet, at the minimum, the Battle at Berlin for a national tour schedule and a co-promoted event with Brooks’ UARA stands to benefit the entire discipline.

That’s to say nothing of all parties getting together on a unified rules package that makes such events possible in the first place.
