Jukasa Motor Speedway increases purse to record numbers for future Short Track Nationals

The richest Late Model race in North America is about to get richer.

Considerably.

The Canadian Short Track Nationals at Jukasa Motor Speedway will pay $50,000 CAN on Sunday night, paying the equivalent of $38,000 US to win and $1,520 US to start.

Track co-owner Kenny Hill announced a gradual increase of the purse over the next three years on Sunday morning during the driver’s meeting for the Pro Late Model main event. The overall purse for the inaugural Canadian Short Track Nationals is $174,000.

Next year’s purse is $300,000 and in 2021, the purse will reach $1 million.

ONE MILLION.

And it’s up to track general manager Alex Nagy to decide how to divvy that up into positional payouts.

“We had a conference call with Jerry Montour (track co-owner) this week and he said we’re doing this,” Nagy said on Sunday.

There are 64 drivers already entered for a race that will only start 40, most of them from Canada and including several stars from the regional NASCAR Pinty’s Series. The United States is also well-represented with newly-crowned Oxford 250 winner Bubba Pollard staying up north to make his debut trip north of the border to compete in the race.
