CARS Tour penalizes Justin Carroll $250 for weight infraction

CARS Tour made the following penalty announcement on Tuesday afternoon

“For the loss of unsecured weight as outlined in the CARS Tour Rule Book – Section 8.13, Justin Carroll, crew chief of the No. 44 driven by Conner Jones, has been fined $250.”

Carroll himself addressed the penalty on his social media channels by adding the following:

“We were too heavy when going through Friday tech day, so before qualifying I took some weight out to get our numbers right,” Carroll said. “I thought the piece I took out was the only piece in that rail but turns out there was a very small piece left in there. When Conner took off for qualifying it flew out on pit road.

“Thankfully no one got hurt and it didn’t happen during the race. The Tour officials made us roll back to the scales after qualifying to make sure we were still within legal weights and we were.”
