Ty Majeski was in a league of his own and looked untouchable after leading over half of the 125 laps to win at Golden Sands Speedway for his first race back at the Plover, Wisconsin facility in nine years, with his last competitive start coming in the ARCA Midwest Tour. Majeski mentioned his pleasure with the setup he was given to win at Golden Sands, saying it was “outside of his comfort zone.”
“What a great car,” Majeski said. “It’s fun stepping outside of our comfort zone a little bit. We haven’t been here in quite a while and went down to the shop with Toby [Nuttleman] on Monday when the bad storms went through. I was actually in La Crosse during them. We’re just tuning on it, putting our heads together and came up with a setup a little bit outside of our comfort zone but thought it would work here and unload with a lot of speed.”
Gabe Sommers finished second after leading the second-most laps, mentioning his setup was not the same as when he won on Memorial Day in the Trickle 99. “Second place isn’t too bad,” Sommers expressed. “We brought a completely different setup since the Trickle race, and it just was off all day a little bit. Couldn’t get the tight out of it and just tried to hold him [Majeski] off as long as we could, just built tight and that’s all we had for him.”
Wyatt Brooks and Justin Mondeik started on the front row after the dice roll post-qualifying, which inverted Majeski from pole down to ninth, while Sommers’ starting position remained in fifth, but that didn’t stop the No. 15 from making quick work of those ahead. Mondeik’s lead only lasted the initial ten laps before Sommers put his nose underneath the Golden Sands ace’s No. 44, with the pair trading blows and crossovers for the lead until the first caution of the night on lap 17, for a slow-moving Matt Gajewski at the bottom of turn four.
Following this, the skies opened and rain started to pour over the .333-mile oval, with the red flag being shown roughly for 45 minutes until drivers hit the track again. This brought Majeski back into the fight, restarting sixth, while Sommers and Mondeik continued their battle for the lead. Majeski made quick work of Wyatt Brooks, Kendrick Kreyer, and Rayce Haase to obtain third with 99 laps to set after Mondeik and Sommers.
Majeski made it to the back bumper of Sommers with 65 laps remaining after making quick work of Mondeik prior, and had every opportunity to make a statement to Sommers following their dust-up in Slinger. However, the No. 91 of Majeski was noticeably faster, which compelled Majeski to take the outside above Sommers and drive around him with ease, gaining complete control with 62 laps left. Majeski would set sail and lead the rest of the way home, taking the checkered flag by seven seconds over Gabe Sommers and nine seconds ahead of Justin Mondeik in third.
This is Majeski’s third win of 2026 in UARA National competition, with the only company in the win column being Stephen Nasse’s win at Auburndale and Daniel Webster’s drought breaking victory in Citrus County. Majeski looks to win on both days of the weekend, racing in the Carl Wegner Memorial Triple Crown at Slinger Speedway.
Slinger Nationals winner Casey Johnson was originally on the entry list, however he was sidelined from racing due to appendicitis. Johnson fortunately caught this early enough that no surgery was required; only antibiotics, per Casey Johnson’s Facebook page. He is slated to return racing on Tuesday for the ASA Midwest Tour at Wisconsin International Raceway.
