UARA National Preview: Inaugural Race in Golden Sands

Daniel Vining

UARA is encroaching on its fifth race of the 2026 National season, and will be holding its maiden event for the series at Golden Sands Speedway, a .333-mile oval located in Plover, Wisconsin. This race takes the weekend of what used to be the Billy Joe Ingram Memorial at Auburndale Speedway, which has been moved into the middle of September.

Twenty-one drivers are confirmed to be entered for 125 laps and racing for a $10,000 payout to the winner. Of those drivers entered, Ty Majeski stands out as the most prominent, as well as Gabe Sommers, who both left Slinger Speedway frustrated a couple weeks ago after a wild finish to the 47th annual Slinger Nationals.

Local talent hails from the Wisconsin Rapids area, with Justin Mondeik looking like the favorite of the hometown heroes to defeat the national talents of Majeski and Sommers, with accolades including a win in the 2024 Cleaver Classic 108 at Golden Sands, leading all 108 laps, complimenting a championship in the TUNDRA Late Model Series from 2022.
