Bubba Pollard told to fix windshield bracing or risk black flag in Snowball Derby

Bubba Pollard has been told to fix his rear window bracing or he is at risk of being disqualified in the middle of the Snowball Derby on Sunday afternoon.

Astute observers recognized during the Friday practice sessions that both the No. 26 Super Late Model and Pro Late Model featured a rear windshield that was bowed in on the right side. NASCAR enthusiasts no doubt drew parallels to teams that made similar attempts to redirect air flow onto the spoiler to generate additional downforce.

It happened again in qualifying and head technical inspector Freddie Query told the No. 26 team he had seen enough after Pollard laid down the eighth fastest lap in time trials.

It happened with his Pro Late Model too.

“I told them, they need to fix it and if they don’t or I see it again on Sunday, I’m going to have them black flagged,” Query said. “I don’t believe it made a difference but the optics aren’t good and we’re not going to have it.”

Both Pollard and teammate Sammy Smith needed to have their front windshields corrected after inspection day on Wednesday as well.
