Kyle Busch still has some unfinished business with 2018.
Sort of.
The 2015 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion revealed in a Speed51.com feature-press release piece that he has entered the rescheduled 2018 All-American 400 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville on April 14.
This is the first time he has raced at the Fairgrounds since
the 2012 All-American 400, then sanctioned by the Pro All Stars Series. In that
race, he spun in a light rain on what amounted to the penultimate restart, but
this time he’s back to win it.
“The All American 400 is one of just a few Super Late Model marquee events that I’d like to check off my personal bucket list, so I’m looking forward to the opportunity to go to the historic Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville and try to add a win in that race to my resume,” Busch told Speed51.
Busch has been one of the leading proponents for NASCAR’s
rumored return to the Fairgrounds and speedway vice president Claire Formosa says
she is excited to welcome him back before any such national touring return.
“We are very excited to have Kyle back to the
Fairgrounds to run the All American,” said Claire Formosa, Vice President
of Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.
“Kyle has been a huge advocate and voice for the short track
industry, especially the Fairgrounds. I know this race is still on his bucket
list of races he wants to win. I am excited to see what he can do in
April.”
Busch was able to enter the race because the reschedule is
set for the Sunday following the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at
Richmond Raceway.
The car Busch will drive was actually scheduled to start on
the pole for the November running of the event with Raphael Lessard, a race
that never saw a green flag due to a persistent rain.
The 2018 All-American 400 was recently shortened to 300 laps, and given the moniker “Unfinished Business.” The 2019 All-American 400 will be contested on November 2-3 and will use the historic 400-lap distance.

They didn’t have a streaming partner for this race when it was supposed to be run last year and I don’t expect that to change by April. But maybe that’ll change.
