Not even a two-year hiatus could prevent the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown from maintaining one of the more impressive entry lists of the season in Late Model Stock Car competition.
In its first year at Langley Speedway, the annual charity race is expected to draw two Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series contenders, some Camping World Truck Series notables, the most notable Super Late Model driver of his era and some of the best Late Model Stock racers from the Carolinas and Virginia.

The Showdown is headlined by Cup stars Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch. Truck Series notables Brett Moffitt, Myatt Snider and Timothy Peters are also on the grounds as of Wednesday night. Super Late Model champion Bubba Pollard will make his Late Model Stock debut during the 200-lap race.
The local contingent is spearheaded by 2016 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series champion Matt Bowling, two-time track champion Mark Wertz and annual contenders CE Falk, Peyton Sellers and Justin Carroll — both of them, in fact.
The race is open to any entrant and a few more are expected to arrive on Thursday morning.
The race is scheduled for 200 laps. There will be a break at lap 75 for tires and minor adjustments, followed by a break at lap 150 for fuel and minor adjustments with no tires being allowed at this break before the last 50 laps to the checkered flag.
