Matt Kenseth’s one-off Super Late Model victory last week in
the Slinger Nationals wasn’t a one-off after all.
Following his triumph in the prestigious race at Slinger Speedway in Wisconsin, the 2003 NASCAR Cup Series champion told reporters that “that might be my only race for year because I’m currently batting 1.000 for the year.”

Kenseth will race at his home track, Madison International
Speedway on Friday, August 16, to compete in the ARCA Midwest Tour Howie Lettow
Classic 100.
The 47-year-old captured the track’s Super Late Model
championship in 1994 and will return to compete against the stars and cars of
the Upper Midwest’s signature touring series. He will drive the same No. 8
Pathfinder Chassis that he piloted to victory lane in the Slinger Nationals.
This will mark the first appearance by Kenseth at his home
track since winning a 100-lap weekly feature in 2014, his 27th victory at the high-banked
half-mile.
“I’m looking forward to getting back on the track at
Madison,” Kenseth said in a Midwest Tour press release. “It’s my home
track. I have a lot of great memories there and I’m hoping to make some more. I
will never forget the first time my dad brought me there to watch a Super Late Model
race.
“It was the biggest, fastest track I had been to at the
time and I was in awe when I heard and saw the Super Lates flying around there.
To this day I get excited thinking about the races I have watched and the races
that I have won there. There’s nothing like going home.”
Casey Johnson currently leads the Midwest Tour championship
by 12 over Austin Nason. The Tour also features John DeAngelis, Paul Shafer,
Rich Bickle Jr. and occasional one-off appearances by the likes of Carson
Kvapil and Ty Majeski.
A VIP Meet and Greet Party will take place that Friday to allow fans the opportunity to attend a Q&A session with Kenseth. The VIP Experience will include a custom ticket good for the VIP area and general admission seating, water and soft drinks as well as autograph and photo opportunities.
