UARA, Ricky Brooks to handle Slinger Nationals tech shed

The Slinger Nationals on July 8, 2025 will receive technical and inspection support from UARA National and Ricky Brooks, announced new track owner Travis Dassow on Friday.

The event will remain unsanctioned but the new ownership family is just leaning on an inspection team they admire and one that has a lot of experience working with both Wisconsin and traveling national racers alike in Brooks.

“The Slinger Nationals is such a prestigious event in the Midwest and, really nationally, that we felt it needed Ricky and his officials to continue the national presence and show our commitment to the integrity of this race,” said Dassow. “Utilizing the Wisconsin-based rules package that have been so successful, we want to make sure that our racers know they are on a fair playing field and Ricky will certainly make sure of that.”

Brooks, who is most known for his decades long stint running the tech shed for the Snowball Derby, will bring the Room of Doom to Central Wisconsin and an event that he has never worked before.

“We are honored to have been asked by the Dassows to come in and be a part of such a prestigious short track event as the Slinger Nationals,” said Brooks. “This has been a bucket list event for me to work. UARA looks forward to teaming with the wonderful officials at Slinger Speedway to ensure the best race possible in July.”

Brooks currently operates the UARA sanctioning body that has a foundation around Cordele Motor Speedway where he serves as general manager under new track owners Rick and Lori Noland. UARA also promotes marquee Super Late Model races like the World Crown 300, now at Cordele, the Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway, Money in the Bank and Battle at Berlin at Berlin Raceway and the Bill Bigley Sr Memorial 128 at Freedom Factory.
