Kyle Busch and Daniel Hemric to race Memorial Day Clash at Oxford Plains

Pro All Star Series

NASCAR’s Kyle Busch and Daniel Hemric have declared their intent to enter the inaugural Memorial Day Clash 200 on Tuesday, May 27 at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Busch has been one of the top drivers in NASCAR for nearly 20 years, amassing 232 wins across the top three series, including 63 in the Cup Series with two championships, as well as having the most wins of all time in the Xfinity Series, plus a championship, and the Truck Series. The veteran is currently in his 21st full-time season, driving the no. 8 for Richard Childress Racing. Hemric is the 2021 Xfinity Series champion and has competed full-time in all three national series. He is currently chasing a Truck Series championship with McAnally-Hilgemann Racing in the no. 19.

“We are very excited about Kyle and Daniel returning to compete at Oxford this year,” said Pro All Star Series president and Oxford Plains Speedway owner Tom Mayberry. “A lot of people in that group worked really hard to put this deal together. I think it’s going to be great for the fans and the competitors.”

Both drivers competed in the Celebration of America last year at the track. Busch ran up front during the majority of the 300 lapper, but race contact ended his race resulting in  24th place finish. Hemric also had a bad day, finishing 21st two laps down.

The race will be the first of the Oxford Crown Jewel Triple Crown. The Celebration of America 300 and the 52nd annual Oxford 250 will also be on the Triple Crown.  Kneeland-Hopkins Promotions have sponsored this event and created a unique format that will see time trials to lock the top two cars into the main event, as long as they run all the laps in their respective heat races. Heat race lineups will be generated from time trial results to qualify the remainder of the 35 car field. A competition caution is scheduled between laps 100 and 125 for racers to change two tires, limiting the 200 lap race to a 6 tire race featuring $10,000 to win.

Ticket pricing for the event as well as support division will be announced at a later date. Both Oxford Plains and the Pro All Star Series websites will have updates on the event. The race itself will be streamed on RacingAmerica.
