Pollard, Nasse grateful for Cordele scheduling decision

As far as Bubba Pollard and Stephen Nasse is concerned, it doesn’t matter who was behind the Cordele Motor Speedway and UARA Super Fest postponement because they’re just grateful as racers.

There was a looming schedule conflict all winter between the ASA STARS race at Dominion Raceway and the second UARA Super Fest at the Georgia bullring with both sides privately blaming the other.

Caught in the crossfire were drivers who try to support both sanctioning bodies and race with Ricky Brooks when their schedule allows, like Pollard and Nasse.

Pollard won the inaugural Super Fest 125 in February, and since that track is just a two hour drive from his house and arguably his best statistical track, he likes to partake and is glad the Noland family made the decision to call this one off.

“I thought it was good,” Pollard told Short Track Scene. “I don’t know the circumstances and what took place there or who made the call or what the decision making was but I thought it was a show of respect and says a lot.

“Hopefully people can take notice of that and continue to support both where they can.”

Nasse echoed that sentiment.

“The Nolands are doing some great things there,” Nasse said of track owners Greg and Lori. “I love that family. I mean, I consider myself to be good friends with them. I was able to race with Jett (Noland) and when we both raced with Pat Jett and Jett Motorsports for so long and there are a lot of good connections there.

“I figured they would work with the racer. They get it and they’re trying to make things better and not tear anything down. They’re racers too and I just think this was some misunderstanding or miscommunication as to why it happened in the first place. I’m glad it got settled and we can move on because I don’t think there was ill-intent.

“There was probably some stubbornness but like I said, I think the Nolands did a great thing and they’re a great family doing great things with the upgrades and bringing CARS Tour there next week.”
