Starting Grid Set for 53rd Annual Snowball Derby

The starting lineup has been set for the 53rd Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway after a dramatic qualifying session on Friday night and the conclusion of the Last Chance Qualifier on Saturday evening, which was won by NASCAR Cup Series champion Chase Elliott.

Derek Thorn qualified on the pole over Kaden Honeycutt, Ty Majeski, Cole Butcher and Stephen Nasse on Friday night.  Several heavy hitters, including Elliott, Chandler Smith, Augie Grill, and Noah Gragson, among others, were left on the outside looking in heading into Saturday’s Last Chance Qualifier.

Elliott took the lead early in the race, coming from mid-pack after a suboptimal qualifying run on Friday to win the Last Chance Qualifier over Grill, Derek Griffith, and Smith.  Noah Gragson, Sammy Smith, Carson Hocevar, and Connor Okrzesik were among the 17 cars that failed to make the field for the Snowball Derby.

Bubba Pollard and Jeremy Pate were locked into the Derby via provisionals.

Sunday’s Snowball Derby will go green at 1pm CST (2pm EST) and will be broadcast live on Speed51.TV.
