FloRacing has acquired the broadcast rights for the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway.
The race is the most prestigious event in pavement Super Late Model racing and has been both won and attempted by many of the biggest names in both NASCAR and short track competition.
As part of the agreement, the purse has also been raised for the 2024 running and will be $50,000-to-win this December.
“We’re proud of what the Snowball Derby has become and are very grateful to the many who have supported the race throughout the years like speed51.com and Racing America, which continues to showcase our regular season events,” commented Tim Bryant, General Manager of the Five Flags Speedway. “What FloSports has done on the dirt side of short track racing is phenomenal, and to include the Snowball Derby into their asphalt programming is fantastic. We’re looking forward to working with FloRacing and creating an exceptional experience for both the competitors and fans.”
This also means the Derby will no longer air on Racing America. What is now Racing America, owned by the teams that compete in the NASCAR Cup Series, began its life as the short track racing platform, Speed51.com.
The Race Team Alliance purchased Speed51 from Bob Dillner in 2019 and rebranded it Racing America in 2022 with an increasing focus on NASCAR.
Five Flags Speedway retains a partnership with Racing America, which will continue to air select events from the Pensacola, Florida half-mile.
“Racing America has had an incredible history with the Snowball Derby and the races that take place at Five Flags Speedway,” said Colin Smith, president of Racing America. “We felt like we have been great stewards of the track and this event, and it has been an honor to represent them alongside Tim Bryant and his team. Although we are sad to see the Derby leave Racing America, we will still be part of the Road to the Snowball Derby and wish nothing but the best for Tim.”
ASA branded events are also now airing on the TrackTV.com platform.
