The Georgia Summer Nationals, a co-promoted Southern Super Series and Cordele Motor Speedway race, has been postponed due to an unfavorable forecast for the region this weekend.
The event also had the Modifieds of Mayhem on the undercard and all parties say they are exploring an August 22 make-up day but will need to have conversations with the industry to see if it is viable.
The current forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday, making a Sunday race equally untenable. With the current cost of diesel fuel, the track and sanctioning bodies didn’t want to risk asking teams to sit in the race for a race that was increasingly unlikely.
It’s a disappointment to all involved because the race featured an impressive entry list of 24 cars, no doubt the byproduct of track owner Greg Noland’s Super Fest and World Crown 300 bonus program.
