Matt Tifft, Billy VanMeter’s crew involved in Glass City 200 post-race fight

Matt Tifft, making his pavement Super Late Model debut on Saturday night in the ASA STARS Glass City 200 at Toledo Speedway, was involved in a post-race altercation with crew members from the VanMeter Racing team following an incident between them earlier in the race.

Racing for 10th, Tifft got tagged from behind by Billy VanMeter and collected Evan Shotko as a result, eliminating both from the race. Tifft said he felt like they had a top-five car and teammate Casey Roderick went on to win the race.

Nevertheless, Tifft went over to the VanMeter pit stall and a physical conflict began. It included Tifft being wrestled to the ground and getting kicked in the head by crew member Bryan Glaze.

Any ASA penalties will be announced later in the week.

VanMeter is fresh off his first Super Late Model victory on Wednesday in the UARA race at Owosso Speedway in Michigan while Tifft was making his first pavement start since his NASCAR retirement in 2019.

Tifft says he expects to race with Anthony Campi Racing again in the future.
