ASA STARS at Owosso to feature increased start money

The ASA STARS national Super Late Model tour race at Owosso Speedway in Michigan will see a significant increase in start money.

The Michigan 200 will feature a start rate of $2,500, compared to the usual ASA STARS national tour events, which pay either $1,000 or $1,500 to start. The reasons are the extra costs associated with traveling to the northernmost regions of the country.

“We recognize that Super Late Model Racing…all racing, for that matter, is expensive,” commented Owosso Speedway Owner and Promoter Rex Wheeler. “The ASA STARS National Tour is a premier short track series in America, and thanks to several partners, Owosso Speedway is proud to be a part of the tour and we hope to be a part of its growth and long-term future.”

In addition to the purse increase, Wheeler has invested a great deal into the facility he purchased in 2022 in terms of both the racing surface and the quality of events hosted at the track. Owosso Speedway is a 0.375-mile progressively banked oval first opened in 1939.

The Michigan 200 is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 16 & 17. The Michigan 200 will be co-sanctioned by the ASA CRA Super Series.
