John Bolen would not be denied.
In Round Four of the Montgomery Motor Speedway Show Me The Money Series race, the Keeping the Peace 100, Bolen’s No. 2 was fastest in both practice sessions and qualifying but got inverted to seventh for the start of the race.
It mattered not.
By Lap 45, Bolen had worked through the field and took the lead from Jim Wall and never looked back, leading the rest of the way in his FURY Race Cars chassis.
“Yeah, we had a really good car,” Bolen said after the race. “Like I said, didn’t have to work too hard to get around. Can’t thank everybody at the Eury’s and FURY enough.”

With that said, the finish was not so straightforward as a caution waved with nine laps remaining with Bolen leading Jake Finch in the Ronnie Sanders Racing No. 18 by almost two seconds but giving everyone a shot on the ensuing restart.
That also mattered not.
Bolen, of nearby Jasper, Alabama, simply drove away to his third win in 50 starts in the Montgomery Motor Speedway monthly Pro Late Model division championship.
“Man, I got to give hats off to all of my guys, everybody back at FURY Race Cars,” Bolen said. “We’ve done a lot over the last year and a half really trying to bring all of our program together up. Tons of people to thank.
“My dad, everybody at Strange Oval, so many people make this possible. But like I said, all of my guys, it’s a big deal. We’ve worked hard to get the car to this level to be able to have something like that. It means a lot.”
The runner-up allowed Finch to extend his championship lead as it followed results of second, fourth and first.
“Yeah, that was not the way I wanted it to go for sure,” Finch said. “I guess a decent points day, I guess. But just didn’t have what we needed at the end to be able to get it done.”
A consolation come Sunday morning is that the Sanders No. 18 had very limited practice time on Friday as it battled a series of mechanical gremlins.
“It sucks, but we didn’t get much practice yesterday with the trouble we had. It’s not too bad, just got to come back to the drawing board and try to get a little bit better,” Finch said. “I feel like if we keep running up front, we’ll just keep knocking a few off.”
Zack Dixon, Clint King and Wall completed the top-five, the latter winning a drag race with Augie Grill coming to the line. There were 17 cars overall entered into the event.
The Show Me The Money Series resumes on Saturday, July 27 with the Saturday of Speed 125. Montgomery Motor Speedway races air on Racing America.
