Florence, Southern National partner with Ultra Racing Association

Florence Motor Speedway and Southern National Motorsports Park will join forces with the Ultra Racing Association (URA) in a new partnership that is “designed for racers by racers,” for the 2025 season

URA, a leading sanctioning body, will offer several benefits to the tracks and drivers, including comprehensive insurance coverage, competitive points systems, and year-end celebrations for participants. This collaboration is to provide short tracks with a new alternative to traditional sanctioning bodies, focusing on reducing licensing fees and reinvesting in racers’ programs to make things easier.

With this, Florence Motor Speedway and Southern National Motorsport Park will now no longer be NASCAR sanctioned tracks, and in turn no longer being broacast to FloRacing. Races will now will now be streamed on their own platform.

“We are excited to be a part of the conception of what could be a huge deal in the short-track world!” Steve Zacharias, owner of Florence Motor Speedway, said. Michael Diaz, owner of Southern National Motorsports Park, added that he is “really looking forward to being part of URA in its inaugural season and seeing how it can benefit short tracks and our drivers!”

Florence Motor Speedway General Manager Brian Vause showed the same sentiment, saying “The upcoming race season is shaping up to be another successful one. I believe competitors and all involved will be receptive to this new chapter at FMS.”

Another addition for 2025 is Ultra Broadcasting, a new platform designed to deliver live event coverage from both facilities, as well as expand to other racetracks. Ultra Broadcasting will be spearheaded by Topper Media, a company founded by Joe Maylish, who has over 30 years of motorsports experience and two decades of corporate expertise.

“I’m thrilled to collaborate with both facilities to deliver unparalleled content and race coverage,” said Maylish. “Our mission is to showcase the racers, enhance their visibility, and ensure sponsors receive maximum exposure.”

The 2025 URA season will begin with The Icebreaker at Florence Motor Speedway on February 8. The Florence mainstay will feature a 125-lap race among top short-track racers at the historic 4/10-mile oval in Timmonsville, South Carolina. The race will be the first URA-sanctioned event broadcast live on Ultra Broadcasting.
