NASCAR Pinty's Series

NASCAR Pinty’s Western Swing preview, broadcast

For the only time in 2019, the NASCAR Pinty’s Series will see three races run in one week. As the teams head out for their annual trip to Western Canada, the cities of Edmonton and Saskatoon will play host to some of Canada’s elite in what will be one of the season’s toughest challenges.

Last season in Saskatoon, the first time winners prevailed.

Cole Powell and Donald Theetge both made the trip to Edmonton with a new title: NASCAR Pinty’s Series winner, with Theetge scoring the first ever win for the Chevy Camaro in the Series.

Edmonton was all Kevin Lacroix, or so it seemed. Lacroix won the pole and was dominant during the race, until a late restart gave LP Dumoulin the chance to pounce. Dumoulin held on to claim his second win of the season.

Andrew Ranger and Kevin Lacroix enter the swing two points apart and it is shaping up to be a pivotal point in the season.

What to Watch for in the Prairies

On the streets of Toronto, Alex Tagliani held-off a hard-charging Andrew Ranger to score his first win of the season, reasserting himself back into the championship mix as a result.

Tagliani has tasted victory out west before, winning at Edmonton back in 2016. A successful western swing would again make a statement in his pursuit of a first championship.

No matter where Jason White finishes in the double-header at Wyant Group Raceway, he can leave knowing he is now part of a prestigious group. Once White takes the green flag in race No.2, he will officially cross the threshold and log-in his 100thcareer start in the Pinty’s Series. The Sun Peaks, British Colombia driver will take some time off to run in the United States following Saskatoon.

Finally, we will have some new faces joining the series for the western tour. Shantal Kalika, Julia Landauer and Jamie Krzysik are among the drivers that will suit up and race with the regulars this week. Expect all the drivers to be fast and ready to compete for a win.
