Kid Rock and Williams kept in clean on Wednesday night in Thompson

After yet another exciting battle between the two down the stretch, Keith Rocco secured the win in the Sunoco Modified feature at Thompson, outdueling Ronnie Williams.

With the two having previously run into each other while running for wins this season, Rocco was pleased to race to the end cleanly on Wednesday night.

“I do have to say, tonight, [Williams] showed me a lot of respect,” Rocco said. “At some point, somebody’s got to give a little bit. I don’t know if he meant to do it or not, but… if we could race that way every time, the two of us could put on a heck of a show.”

Behind Williams in second was Woody Pitkat; and Todd Owen and Troy Talman rounded out the top-five.

Corey Barry started on pole. He led the first two laps before Todd Owen took over the lead on the third lap.

Keith Rocco got around Owen on lap nine to get the lead.

Josh Zentek ran into the frontstretch wall coming off turn four on lap 11 to bring out the first yellow flag, followed up by a John Studley mechanical failure that brought out another caution.

Williams moved up to second on the ensuing restart. He was unable to get by Rocco down the stretch despite pressuring him repeatedly. On the last lap, Williams tried crossing underneath Rocco off of turn four, but was unable to power alongside “Kid Rock.”
