Landon Lewis holds off Kaden Honeycutt in Southern National thriller

Lewis wins second round of I-95 Showdown in Jerry Moody Memorial

Landen Lewis and Kaden Honeycutt put on a show at Southern National Motorsports Park on Wednesday night.

The two drivers swapped the lead seven times in 18 laps in the closing stages of the Jerry Moody Memorial, which marked the second round of the I-95 Showdown. It was Lewis who ultimately prevailed with a little help from lapped traffic and little muscle.

“Definitely lapped traffic helped,” Lewis said after the race. I felt like me and him were honestly pretty even when it came to speed. Lapped traffic played a factor during the race and moved around. Just super proud of this Kevin Harvick Inc. group and excited to keep this going.”

Wednesday night’s win bring Kevin Harvick, Inc. to a 2-0 record in the I-95 Showdown so far, after Keelan Harvick won earlier this year in the Icebreaker 125 at Florence Motor Speedway.

“With Keelan starting off the year with a win and now we got a win, I feel like our momentum is really good on the KHI side,” Lewis stated. “Just proud of this group and proud of this opportunity.

Lewis pulled away in the final 10 laps, forcing Honeycutt to settle for second.

“I think we had a really good car,” Honeycutt said. “I don’t really know. Whenever he got to me, he flat drove straight through me so I said ‘alright, this is the way we’re gonna have to race him.’ I get it from the perspective of he’s just trying to win the race. It was just us two out there. He definitely could’ve done it a little better than that but don’t expect anything different.”

Honeycutt went on to say part of the reason he faded at the end was putting too much rear break in the car.

“I honestly made a mistake and put rear break in it too many times,” Honeycutt continued.  “It’s the opposite dfirection. Just habit of my truck deal. Just wasn’t ready for that. I’ll take a second.”

Matt Cox, who will compete in the remainder of Speed Week 2026 and the I-95 Showdown, finished third while Doug Barnes, Jr. and Chase Burgeson rounded out the top-five.

Matt McCall was forced to switch to a backup car after practice due to an MSD box malfunction, ultimately finishing seventh. Other notables included Jamey Caudill, finishing eighth, and Deac McCaskill in 13th.

Prior to the start of the Legend Car feature race, the field lined up in a missing man formation to remember Chase Pistone, who passed away earlier this week. At the front of the field, pacing the Legends around, was Doug Barnes, Jr. in his Late Model Stock Car.

Pistone was Barnes’ crew chief for several seasons. He was a fixture in the Legends racing community.

A similar formation was held prior to the start of the Late Model Stock Car race, which paid homage to longtime car owner Jerry Moody. Moody passed away in 2013.  His daughter, Haley, lined up at the front of the field during pace laps, with McCall and Jamey Caudill, who both drove for Moody, behind her.

The race was her first start at Southern National since 2017.  She finished 22nd.

Southern National Motorsports Park track owner Michael Diaz confirmed during pre-race ceremonies that the Jerry Moody Memorial would be held as the Wednesday night highlight of Speed Week every year moving forward.
