Taylor Stricklin honoring dad Hut with Throwback 276 paint scheme

CARS Tour

The first retro paint scheme for the CARS Tour Throwback 276 has been revealed and it has a NASCAR Winston Cup Series theme.

Taylor Stricklin will honor his father, Hut Stricklin, during the second-annual throwback race at Hickory Motor Speedway on August 4. Stricklin will compete in the Super Late Model portion of the event with a wrap that pays homage to the No. 12 Buick that his father drove during the 1991 and ’92 Cup Series Series seasons for team owner Bobby Allison, Stricklin’s great uncle.

Hut Stricklin enjoyed his best season in 1991, finishing 16th in the championship standings with a best finish of second at Michigan International Speedway, losing out to Allison’s son, Davey.

“We were excited to have the opportunity to run this race with the cars tour and all they do to make this throwback weekend really special,” Stricklin told Shrot Track Scene. “Then we got hooked up with the folks at Raybestos Powertrain and made the opportunity even better for us to use the paint scheme my dad drove in 91-92 for my uncle Bobby.

“Hopefully we can turn our luck around some and bring home a good run at a track we’ve had a decent amount of success at through the years.”

In addition to Taylor Stricklin competing during the Throwback 276, Hut Stricklin will be on hand to take part in an autograph signing alongside Bobby Allison, Donnie Allison, Ron Hornaday Jr., Randy LaJoie and Robert Pressley.

As is the case with all CARS Tour races, the Throwback 276 can be viewed live with a CARSTour.TV subscription package. The race will also air on MAVTV on September 6 at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.
