It’s effectively the Snowball Derby but in May.
That’s the best way to articulate the ASA STARS National Tour entry list for Tuesday May 16 for the ECMD 150 at North Wilkesboro Speedway. There are 55 cars on the entry list and that includes the full-time national Super Late Model contenders and a handful of Cup Series regulars.
First, some breaking news, as the entry list contains a TBD for Anthony Campi Racing. That entry is none other than Cup Series championship contender William Byron. He makes the move over to the Campi operation following a widely successful season at Donnie Wilson Motorsports in which he won the Slinger Nationals, Money in the Bank and Easter Bunny 150.
He makes the move over to Campi, which has an affiliation with Chevrolet, as opposed to the occasionally complicated dynamic of driving for Wilson which has a Toyota Racing Development affiliation.
Chase Elliott, the 2020 Cup Series champion, will also make his return to Super Late Model racing with a pair of ASA STARS appearances this month at North Wilkesboro and Hickory as part of what’s becoming a North Carolina Speedweeks. Daniel Suarez will make a start at Wilkesboro for Rackley WAR Racing.
Erik Jones is entered, as is the returning Chandler Smith, who will make his debut for Ben Kennedy Racing. Noah Gragson is retuning to the seat he drove at the Snowball Derby in Rette Jones Racing.
This is to say nothing of the stars and cars of Super Late Model’s finest — a collection of contenders that includes the likes of Bubba Pollard, Derek Griffith, Stephen Nasse, Cole Butcher, Matthew Craig and Ty Majeski.
