In his second Late Model Stock car appearance in 2021, Josh Berry enjoyed a near flawless evening to obtain the victory in the 75-lap feature at Tri-County Speedway on Saturday evening.
Berry’s past triumphs at Tri-County Speedway include two CARS LMSC Tour victories and was thrilled to park his car in victory lane at the track once again despite dealing with some changes to the surface.
“Tri-County is one of my favorite tracks and they paved Turns 3 and 4, which made it a pretty unique challenge,” Berry said. “It seemed like it took our car a couple of laps to get going but after that it was really good.”
Berry started off the night by setting the track record in qualifying. He dropped back to second on the initial start but was back in front of the field after eight laps.
The middle portion of the feature saw Berry battle Justin Johnson and Jacob Heafner for the top spot. With 30 laps to go, Berry assumed control of the lead for the final time and held off Austin McDaniel for the win.
“We had a fun battle for the lead and ended up pulling away to win,” Berry said. “I just want to thank All Things Automotive, iRacing and everyone at JR Motorsports for letting us come have some fun this weekend.”
Berry has finished no worse than second in two Late Model Stock starts in 2021. He placed second to Chad McCumbee in the Icebreaker at Florence Motor Speedway on Feb. 6.
