The penultimate race of the 2025 Late Model Stock Car season is set to take place at Florence Motor Speedway with Saturday’s renewal of the South Carolina 400 – and what has become the second-biggest race of the year once again has a stacked entry list.
50 drivers are set to compete in Florence’s fall highlight, including the Kvapil brothers, Keelan Harvick, Connor Hall, Doug Barnes, the Kelley brothers, and several CARS Tour heavyweights.
The South Carolina 400 serves as the penultimate race of the I-95 Showdown, which will crown its inaugural champion at the Thanksgiving Classic at Southern National Motorsports Park on Sunday, November 30. The I-95 Showdown races have been dominated by Matt Cox, who won at the Icebreaker, and Doug Barnes, Jr.
Alongside a victory at the Icebreaker, Cox was also victorious in a Showdown race at Southern National in June. Barnes has won multiple races at Southern National. Cody Kelley, who turned heads when he scored the pole at Martinsville and finished eighth, also has an I-95 Showdown win at Florence.
Kade Brown is the only returning Florence-era South Carolina 400 winner in this year’s field. Brown won the race in 2023.
The most notable change in 2025, aside from the absence of Dale Earnhardt, Jr., is that the race will be run under URA-sanctioning for the first time after being under NASCAR-sanctioning in recent years.
Practice will take place on Friday and again on Saturday morning. Qualifying will take place at 1:30pm on Saturday, with the green flag set to wave shortly after 3:00pm.
The fastest 30 cars from qualifying will be taken into the starting lineup, with six positions reserved after that for I-95 Showdown contenders, and another provosional left open for the winner of the zMAX CARS Tour race (Landen Lewis, who is not entered). If the Showdown finalists do transfer into the feature, positions 31-37 will be determined in qualifying. The cars that do not make the field will compete in a 50-lap consolation feature early on in Saturday’s feature racing program.
The South Carolina 400 will be broadcast live on Ultra Broadcasting.
