Connor Hall had a few weeks off his NASCAR and ARCA duties at Niece Motorsports and Sigma Performance Services respectively and spent that time back home.
And by home, that means both in the Hampton Roads area, in the No. 77 Smurf Late Model Stock and driving it at Langley Speedway to a Twin 50 sweep on Saturday night.
In the first race, that mean beating Cole Bruce into Turn 1 from the pole and leading every lap en route to his first Langley Speedway win since his last start in the 2025 season opener ahead of Danny and Greg Edwards.
“We came out here on Monday, struggled a lot and got humbled,” Hall said in Victory Lane on the FloRacing broadcast. “Fortunately, we had three days to think about it to try to make it a little better. We came out here yesterday and had a really good test.
“We kept our heads down. We’re not necessarily the big guys on the totem pole anymore. We tried to come here and do things like we normally do and see where we stack up against these guys. I haven’t raced here in a year in a half, and had some back-to-back off-weeks so why not have some fun while I’m home.”
In both races, Hall was staring at the white flag when the caution waved and set-up bonus time to complete. In the second race, it was a Conner Waddell spin.
In the second race, Mark Wertz was the runner-up, Danny Edwards’ son Donovan was third, Woody Howard was fourth for the second consecutive time, and Danny Edwards ended up fifth.
Hall also had to start near the back of the field after winning the first half of the event. He was second by Lap 13 and took the lead on a Lap 13 restart.
“They definitely made me work for it,” Hall said. “We had a really good car in the first. Me and crew chief Clayton Parrish had a little bit of a heated discussion about whether we touch it or not; I voted on touch it and I’m glad we did because we made it even better for Race 2. Really good effort … really cool to come back here and have the success we had here tonight. I have a full time job down in Charlotte and can’t come down as much but made the trip home, and got to play at home.”
