Popular Virginia veteran Bruce Anderson is joining the Peyton Sellers lineup for this month’s ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway, the team announced.

The ValleyStar Credit Union 300, which is Late Model Stock Car racing’s richest and most prestigious race, will commence on Saturday, September 28, 2024.  This will be Anderson’s 14th attempt.

“It’s a really special opportunity for me,” Anderson told Short Track Scene.  “I’ll actually be driving a car that Brian Pembelton owns, one of the cars Landon has raced this year.  Brian has always been a good friend of mine and getting to drive one of Landon’s cars is one of the best opportunities I’ve had at Martinsville, so I was honored when Brian asked me to drive one of his son’s cars.”

Anderson, who has a best finish of 10th at Martinsville, is one of three drivers who will compete for Sellers, joining 2022 ValleyStar Credit Union 300 and multi-time NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series national champion Peyton Sellers and Langley Speedway standout Chase Burrow.  In recent years, Anderson has worked with the Racing College of Virginia, located at the campus of Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville.

Like every driver in the field, Anderson’s goal is to come away with the $32,000 check and grandfather clock.

“Getting the win would be very special,” Anderson stated.  “I’m a race fan, I’ve raced 50 laps this year, so I’m behind the eight ball going in but I do have some experience there and we’re going to work hard all weekend.  Getting the win there would be the biggest win of my career and very special for the whole team.  I’m just looking forward to the opportunity.”

Anderson has over 30 wins and two Limited Late Model championships to his credit at his home track, South Boston Speedway.

Sellers Racing driver Landon Pembelton, who won the 2021 ValleyStar Credit Union 300, has joined Lee Pulliam Performance for this year’s renewal of the Fall Classic, driving the no. 55 entry in place of Isabella Robusto, who will be racing in Kansas.
