ACT Locks Down 13-Race Schedule With Seekonk Haunted Hundred

The Haunted Hundreds are returning to the “Cement Palace.”

The American-Canadian Tour finalized its 13-race slate for 2024 with an announcement Thursday that Seekonk Speedway will again host the year-ending Haunted Hundreds for the ACT Late Model Tour and the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series.

Seekonk, already the host track of June’s 49th Spring Green, will add a second ACT date for the doubleheader on November 2, making for a late championship finale for both series.

The second Seekonk date also completes the Brookside Equipment Sales Southern New England Triple Crown, which includes the aforementioned Spring Green and ACT’s October appearance at Thompson (Conn.) Speedway’s Sunoco World Series.

The two series collaborated on last year’s season finale at New London-Waterford Speedbowl, with D.J. Shaw and Matt Hirschman splitting the doubleheader to clinch their respective championships. A season-record 49 cars turned out to qualify for the ACT Tour season finale, drawing heavily from the Speedbowl’s own local base. Uncertainty with the Speedbowl’s 2024 schedule, though, led ACT to consider different options.

The Monaco Modifieds already have an August date at the coastal Connecticut oval, as well as their traditional “Open Wheel Wednesday” Seekonk tilt in June.

Seekonk, which has a healthy ACT-rules Late Model field of its own, has staged some memorable showdowns in recent years. Veteran Joey Polewarczyk won last year’s Spring Green, the first held at the Massachusetts oval. D.J. Shaw held off a charge by local racer Jacob “Rowdy” Burns to win the 2022 Haunted Hundred, while Ben Rowe moved Shaw on the last lap to nab not only the 2021 edition but the ACT Tour title.

With the Pro All Stars Series already booked for their season finale weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway on October 19 and 20, and with some drivers running both the PASS and ACT schedules, an earlier weekend was not a clear-cut option for booking. And sneaking another race in earlier in the year, after most track schedules have been finalized to an extent, was likely not an option.

ACT’s finalized schedule now stretches from April’s opener at New Hampshire Motor Speedway all the way to November, with plenty of time for teams to regroup for the new season finale.

And if the title race comes down to a last-race battle, fans in the Seekonk stands will be in for a treat.
