Todd Owen needed all 40 laps, but late-race heroics got him to victory lane for the second straight Friday night in the Stafford Speedway SK Modified feature.
Owen made the race-winning pass on Michael Gervais with two laps to go, cruising onto his 27th career Stafford victory.
“Just an awesome car,” Owen said. “What can I say, man. Just awesome power.”
Sweetening the night for Owen was the fact that another one of his chassis, driven by Doug Meservey, finished third.
“I think I’m more excited about Doug Meservey finishing third… than I am about winning,” Owen said. “That kid’s done an awesome job this year.”
Rounding out the top-five behind Meservey were Keith Rocco and Stephen Kopcik. Sixth went to Tyler Hines and Mike Christopher Jr. finished seventh. Eighth was Chase Dowling, followed by Dan Wesson and Mikey Flynn.

The win was anything but easy for Owen from the outset. After starting 14th, he followed behind Keith Rocco, and the two began slicing their way through the field. A yellow for a Matt Vassar spin on lap 20 and another incident involving Bryan Narducci bunched up the field.
Owen went from third to second quickly on the final restart and began stalking Gervais, who had been at the point since lap five. After a couple of unsuccessful challenges, Owen was able to sneak underneath Gervais in turn one of the penultimate lap and complete the pass down the backstretch.
