After skipping the most recent event at Ace Speedway, Mike Looney returned to the CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour by taking the pole for this evening’s David “Lightning” Saunders Memorial 125 at Caraway Speedway.

“Sometimes a week off is what you need,” Looney said. “You really have to be on your A game with the CARS Tour and if something is missing with your program, you are better off staying home. We did our homework, fixed our stuff and hopefully we can close the deal.”

Looney was nearly knocked off the pole by former Caraway track champion Dylan Ward, who will line up second on the grid following his CARS LMSC Tour debut at Ace two weeks ago.

Layne Riggs, who is fresh off his first CARS LMSC Tour victory of the season, did not get the run he was looking for in qualifying and will start 19th on the grid.
