World Series SLM Practice Day Videos

The World Series of Asphalt begins on Friday night with seven races in nine nights for the Super Late Models and Pro Late Models. While the Tour Type Modifieds do not begin their World Series until Monday, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races on Saturday.

For the Super Late Models, Gio Ruggiero was fastest in the Wilson Motorsports No. 22 ahead of Conner Jones in the R&S Race Cars No. 44, Casey Roderick in the Anthony Campi No. 18 and Bobby Good.

Derek Griffith was sixth quickest and is planning a robust schedule of Super Late Model races this season. Matthew Craig meanwhile wants to race more after a season where they were just off their usual pace. Local track champion Brad May is also expected to upset the field at least once over the next week as he tends to do.

Matt Weaver is the owner and founder of Short Track Scene. Weaver grew up in the sport, having raced himself before becoming a reporter in college at the University of South Alabama. He also has extensive experience covering NASCAR, IndyCar and Dirt Sprint Cars.
