The complete Southern Super Series schedule was released on Saturday at the Performance Racing Industry trade show in Indianapolis.

The most notable takeaway for longtime followers of Deep South Super Late Model competition is the return of a Pensacola-Mobile Friday and Saturday doubleheader. The format once comprised the Sunoco Gulf Coast Super Series that eventually gave way to the Southern Super Series.

It’s back for one weekend in April as Mobile is now under the new management of Eddie Shoemaker.

Beyond that, the series looks pretty consistent from years past beyond the previously announced decision to make Speedfest at Watermelon Capital Speedway in January a points paying race. The second year points race at New Smyrna February as part of the World Series of Asphalt is also now the season opener for the ASA STARS national tour.

“We are thrilled to be talking about 2024 and we are just a few weeks away from having cars on the race track in January,” said Tim Bryant, General Manager of the Southern Super Series in a press release. “We had a strong season in 2023 averaging nearly 30 cars across our events. We are excited to continue our involvement with the ASA STARS National Tour and we will be co-sanctioning four races with them in 2024.”
