FloRacing announced the broadcast team for the 57th Annual Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway on Wednesday which includes four of the most well known and respected voices in short track racing.
Adam Mackey and Eric Brennan will be on play-by-play for all four days of the event, from December 5-8. Bob Dillner and Jim Tretow will make up the pit road tandem reporting stories from the garage during the weekend’s events.
Adam Mackey currently serves as the announcer for the ASA STARS National Tour and other marquee short track events including the Winchester 400. Mackey has also been a commentator for the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway for the past two years.
Mackey has been a mainstay at the Snowball Derby as a play-by-play announcer for both radio and online broadcasts ever since 2010.
Eric Brennan is the lead voice for the CARS Tour on FloRacing. Brennan has also commentated for key Late Model Stock races like the ValleyStar Credit Union 300 at Martinsville Speedway, as well as select ARCA Menards Series events on FOX Sports. He has also announced at Wall Stadium Speedway and Bowman Gray Stadium, as well as the World Karting Association (WKA) and SMART Modified Tour.
Bob Dillner serves as the lead announcer for the SMART Modified Tour and is well known for his involvement with the Snowball Derby through Speed51. He first covered the Snowball Derby back in 2001 and has done almost everything for the Derby, including PA announcer for driver introductions, play-by-play commentator for radio broadcasts and play-by-play/reporter for online broadcasts. Dillner has previously spent 14 years with Fox Sports covering the NASCAR Cup Series and five years with TNN covering a large variety of motorsports including NASCAR, IndyCar, NHRA, ASA, and the World of Outlaws. He also spent eight years with MAVTV covering ARCA, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the Chili Bowl as well.
Jim Tretow has 28 years of experience in national television coverage of motorsports. He currently serves as the co-anchor for the ASA STARS National Tour and ASA Midwest Tour, as well as being a host for MAVTV events and the P.A. announcer for the Daytona 500 and Rolex 24. Tretow has also covered the ASA on TNN and SPEED, as well as the ARCA Menards Series on Fox Sports 1, MAVTV and CBS Sports Network. For the Snowball Derby, he has been both a pit reporter and booth co-anchor for three of the last five years with Racing America.
During the week, fans will also be able to hear Five Flags Speedway’s track announcers Robbie Harvey and Bill Roth throughout the event.
The weekend starts on Wednesday, December 4 with hauler parking and the annual pit party. Pro and Super Late Model teams will draw for qualifying positions at the stage on the front stretch.
Thursday will see on-track action as both Pro and Super Late Models practice throughout the day. Later that night the Sportsman, Pure Stocks, and Pro Trucks will have their feature race events.
“Fast Friday” will also feature more practice, as teams get prepped for qualifying later in the day. The top 30 drivers will lock into the field for Sunday’s main event. The end of the night will feature the Modified of Mayhem 2024 Championship Race, plus a Crown Stock Invitational event.
Saturday will be busiest day at the track, with practice in the morning for the Late Models, then the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 cars take to the track in the mid-afternoon. Following qualifying, the last chance races for the Snowflake 100 and the Snowball Derby will run. The 21st Annual Allen Turner Snowflake 100 will roll at 7 p.m., followed by a race for the Outlaw Division.
Then on Sunday, it is the main event, the 57th Annual Snowball Derby. Green flag will be at 1 p.m. CT for the 300-lap Super Late Model race. Fans unable to attend the 57th Annual Snowball Derby at track will be able to watch the entire week of racing live on FloRacing.
