ANDERSON, Ind — Still just a short time into married life and expecting his first born to arrive shortly, Bubba Pollard has somewhat scaled back his racing operations into a local one this season.

The 2014 Southern Super Series champion hasn’t competed full-time anywhere, nor has he traveled much outside of the Southeast. And yet, Pollard has made his way to Anderson Speedway in Indiana this weekend in pursuit of the RedBud 300.

Despite the shortage of seat time this summer, Pollard actually believes he’s sharper and better poised to win Saturday’s big race.

“I feel like we have good notes,” Pollard said of the race he finished second at back in 2014. “Set-up wise, we have all the information we need. Staying home has actually allowed us to do a better job of staying on top of things on the technology front.

“Spending a lot of time in dirt Late Models has actually halped too. We’re taking some of that technology into the RedBud 300. I think we’re going to be fast off the trailer.”

This is actually the first of a three-race stretch in six days for Pollard, who will also compete in his first Slinger Nationals on Tuesday in Wisconsin before returning south to compete in the SSS event at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola on Friday.

With his limited asphalt schedule this year, Pollard just wants have some fun and remind people that he’s still a part of the weekly narrative of the discipline.

“I’ve never been to Slinger and I’m really looking forward to that one,” Pollard said. “We’ve tried to knock some bucket list races off going out west and to Berlin — things like that. These guys in the Midwest, in both races, are going to be tough. These are two tracks are very friendly to the local guys.

“We’re going to have to catch up in a short amount of time.”

Qualifying for the RedBud 300 is set to begin at 4:15 p.m. ET. The race will begin at 7:30 with Speed51.com providing a live PPV broadcast of the second round of the CRA Triple Crown.
