Matt Kenseth still has a drive to compete and will take that
desire back home to compete in the 40th Slinger Nationals on Tuesday, July 9, at
Slinger Super Speedway in Wisconsin.
The native of Cambridge, Wisconsin is a byproduct of the
Wisconsin short track scene, and even during a career that produced the 2003
Cup Series championship and two Harley J. Earl trophies, he also kept an eye on
the growth of the Slinger Nationals.
“The Nationals have always been one of the major events in all of short track racing,” Kenseth said in an event press release. “Certainly, it was the one you wanted to win, growing up in Wisconsin.”

Kenseth made his last appearance behind the wheel of a stock
car in the 2018 Cup Series finale at Homestead Miami Speedway, competing a
career that produced 39 wins at the highest level and an additional 29 in the
second-tier Busch-Nationwide-Xfinity tour.
Kenseth last appeared at Slinger Super Speedway in the 2016
Slinger Nationals, outdueling Erik Jones with a bump-and-run on the final lap.
That was his record-extending seventh victory in the event.
“It’s been a good track for me throughout my career,” Kenseth added. “We’ve had a lot of success there; a lot of memorable moments and I’m looking forward to going back.”

The list of previous Nationals winners includes former and current NASCAR standouts, Alan Kulwicki; Mark Martin; Dick Trickle (4 wins); Rich Bickle, Jr (4 wins); Matt Kenseth (7 wins) and Kyle Busch. The last two years, barnstorming national Super Late Model standouts, Ty Majeski and Bubba Pollard have captured the Slinger Nationals top laurels. Matt Kenseth; Bickle, Jr; Majeski and Pollard have all committed to competing in the 2019 Nationals event.
