GMS Race Cars enters Super Late Model chassis business; hires Tony Eury Jr.

GMS Race Cars is entering the Super Late Model chassis constructing business and have hired legendary NASCAR crew chief Tony Eury Jr. to oversee its development.

Eury, who in addition to his championship and race winning pedigree at the highest levels of NASCAR, has most recently served as a founding member of FURY Race Cars, which built marquee race winning chassis in straight rail and Tour Type Modified competition.

From a team release:

Building on the performance heritage of GMS Racing, GMS Race Cars aims to deliver cutting-edge, race-ready chassis designed to compete at the highest levels of short track racing across the United States. The program will focus on innovation, data-driven development, and race-winning support for Super Late Model teams in premier regional and national series.

“We’re building this program with the same drive and determination that brought GMS to Victory Lane in NASCAR,” said Eury, who has the title of Director of Chassis Development. “The goal is simple: engineer a championship-caliber Super Late Model chassis that drivers want under them and teams want in their shops.”

The company, which based out of the GMS Fabrication shop in Statesville, North Carolina, is currently developing its first generation car and will begin testing it in the next couple of weeks.

GMS Race Cars will offer comprehensive services including full chassis builds, setup consultation, repair, and trackside support to help customers optimize performance from the shop to the checkered flag.

“Having Tony at the helm ensures we’re combining elite-level experience with forward-thinking design,” said Mike Beam. “This isn’t just about building a chassis—it’s about raising the bar for what a Super Late Model program can be.”

The chassis builder anticipates having select customer cars on the track this season.

Matt Weaver is the owner and founder of Short Track Scene. Weaver grew up in the sport, having raced himself before becoming a reporter in college at the University of South Alabama. He also has extensive experience covering NASCAR, IndyCar and Dirt Sprint Cars.
