Former Late Model standout turned NASCAR Camping World Truck Series regular Shane Sieg died over the weekend at the age of 34.

He was the older brother of current NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Ryan Sieg.

Ryan Sieg Racing announced his passing Tuesday afternoon on social media. He would have turned 35-years-old on Wednesday. A team spokesperson was unable to provide additional details.

“Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers,” the team said on Twitter. “We lost a great driver and an incredible person. Forever in our hearts.”

The Tucker Georgia native enjoyed a decent run of success in Late Models before starting his NASCAR career. In addition to a Southeast Series victory in 2003 at Huntsville Speedway in Alabama, Sieg won a GAS Series race in 2008 at Senoia Raceway in Georgia and finished second in the championship to Russell Fleeman.

He later ran 68 Truck Series events and made two Xfinity Series starts.

He earned three top-10s in the Truck Series. His best result was eighth at the Milwaukee Mile in 2004. Sieg made his final Truck Series start in June 2011 at Pocono Raceway. He was suspended indefinitely by NASCAR two months later for violating its substance abuse policy and for actions detrimental.

He never returned to the sport.
