Corey Heim representing Davey Allison in Throwback 276

Corey Heim will pay respect to Davey Allison during the CARS Tour Throwback 276 at Hickory Motor Speedway this weekend.

The usual No. 78 has been re-wrapped to look identical to the paint scheme the 2019 NASCAR Hall of Famer used during his 1987 rookie season in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.

Allison impressed that season driving for Harry Rainier. He won for the first time at Talladega Superspeedway and again two races later at Dover International Speedway. He also collected five poles that season.

His five poles and two victories were, at the time, records for a rookie driver in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Matt Weaver is the owner and founder of Short Track Scene. Weaver grew up in the sport, having raced himself before becoming a reporter in college at the University of South Alabama. He also has extensive experience covering NASCAR, IndyCar and Dirt Sprint Cars.
