Kenna Mitchell eyes Las Vegas as Limited Late points leader

Two weeks after scoring her first CARS Tour West win at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway, Kenna Mitchell heads back to The Bullring at Las Vegas as the Limited Late Model points leader.

Mitchell became the first female to earn a CARS Tour West victory and said the win hasn’t changed her mindset and always focusing on what’s next.

“It feels really good,” Mitchell said. “We want to get another win this weekend. You can’t sit on one win for too long. There’s always another race.”

Even with a lead of more than three seconds at Kern, Mitchell was counting down the laps in the closing stages, having seen races slip away before.

“Once we had a good lead, I felt like we had it,” she said. “But we’ve had things go wrong before, so I was counting down the laps. It’s never over until it’s over.”

The win moved her to the top of the standings, three points ahead of Tanner Huddleston.

The Northern California native is coming off a strong 2025 year, where she defended her Limited Pro Late Model title at All-American Speedway, won the NASCAR California State Championship and earned NASCAR’s Wendell Scott Trailblazer Award, all at 19.

“That definitely helped us feel like we’re in the mix this year,” she said. “It’s still early, but we feel good.”

Mitchell returns to Las Vegas after a strong February run that saw contact with Jeffrey Peterson spin her from second place, but still rallied from deep in the field to finish fourth, methodically working her way through the pack over the final 70 laps.

Now, she turns her focus to Las Vegas as the points leader with a series win under her belt entering the third race of the 2026 season.
