For the second time in NASCAR Pinty’s Series history, Canada’s finest will head south of the border for the second-to-last round in the 2019 season. Loudon’s New Hampshire Motor Speedway will play host to the Visit New Hampshire 100 as part of the Full Throttle Weekend triple header.
One year ago, it was anyone’s race. With very few drivers having previous experience at the track, every driver came into NHMS with a blank slate. Taking the lead only ten laps into the race, Kevin Lacroix put on a show, leading 90 laps en-route to his second career oval track victory.
Lacroix would join Chase Dowling and Brandon McReynolds as the winners of the inaugural Full Throttle Weekend races.
2019 will also be a test for the new General Tires; all season long the tires have been tested on short ovals, bullrings and a variety of road and street courses. In this round the tires will get their final test of the year, when the Pinty’s Series will essentially take them the equivalent of super speedway racing as NHMS is the Series’ fastest track.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
With more than 13 current Pinty’s Series drivers having experience at NHMS now, the 2019 edition will be a more competitive event. However, a few big names have yet to drive on the tricky 1.058 mile oval. 11-time series winner Jason Hathaway and 2017 Champion Alex Labbe are among the drivers who have yet to race at NHMS in a Pinty’s car.
A few other big names will be making their returns at NHMS and will also be closing out the season by running the final race at Jukasa.
Julia Landauer, the first woman to lead a lap in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series, will be back for the first time since Saskatoon in July. Landauer will be joined at DJK Racing by another familiar face, Cole Powell. Powell will be making his second start at NHMS and his first of 2019. After running the full season with EHR last year, Powell will look for redemption after leading the first 10 laps at NHMS in 2018.
Pete Shepherd III will make his return driving the No.7 National Exhaust Ford for Dave Jacombs Racing. Shepherd claimed a runner up finish at NHMS one year ago, but this time Shepherd hopes to improve by one spot. Lastly, Kevin Lacroix’s team will be adding a second entry; Mathieu Kingsbury will be back in No.75 following his series debut and a top-ten finish at Saint-Eustache. The Duroking team will look for another strong finish.
