Of the drivers in the field who know New Hampshire Motor Speedway the best, Kevin Lacroix’s name would be at the top of the list. The defending race winner picked up right where he left off, topping the charts in practice for the Visit New Hampshire 100.
Lacroix’s No.74 Bumper to Bumper Dodge set a time of 31.183 seconds (122.143 MPH) around the 1.058-mile oval during the 75-minute session. One year ago, Lacroix led 90-laps en-route to a dominant victory in the Series’ inaugural stop in the United States.
“We feel really confident about the car here,” Lacroix said. “We already had a good car based on what we did last year to come here and make it even better. I feel like we kept improving throughout practice and feel really confident for tomorrow.”
D.J Kennington would end the session in the second spot, setting a time of 31.198 (122.085). Kennington’s N0.17 Castrol Edge Dodge was a mere .015 seconds off of Lacroix, the closest anyone would come to beating the No.74.
Alex Labbe’s only prior NHMS experience has come in the form of two Xfinity Series starts. Labbe’s No.36 Hotel Le Concorde Ford set a time of 31.423 (121.211) which would place him third quick.
Marc-Antoine Camirand and lone American Julia Landauer would round out the top five.
Donald Theetge and Cole Powell were sixth and seventh, respectively.
Alex Guenette, Peter Shepherd III and Brandon White completed the top ten.
Qualifying for the Visit New Hampshire 100 will start at 9 a.m., Saturday morning, with the green flag set to drop at 12:05 P.M.
