SMART Tour disqualifies Carson Loftin win

Carson Loftin crossed the finish line first on Sunday in the SMART Modified Tour race at Caraway Speedway but the result was undone by a post-race technical disqualification.

After the race, Loftin was found to be in violation of the rules in the form of a check valve added to the spec engine. The Shady Gray Racing team has appealed that ruling and a hearing has been scheduled in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

For now, defending series champion Luke Baldwin has inherited the victory.

Matt Weaver is the owner and founder of Short Track Scene. Weaver grew up in the sport, having raced himself before becoming a reporter in college at the University of South Alabama. He also has extensive experience covering NASCAR, IndyCar and Dirt Sprint Cars.
