24 cars and counting entered for Saturday’s Hickory Hundred

SMART Tour

The SMART Tour field makes its annual trip to the Birthplace of the NASCAR Stars, Hickory Motor Speedway, for its fifth race of the season, the Hickory Hundred.

While most SMART Tour races are 99 laps, the Hickory Hundred is one of just three races on the tour that go beyond the normal distance, South Boston and Franklin County being the others. 100 laps will be contested by the tour’s best this Saturday.

You have the usual suspects: the Myers’, the Baldwins and, of course, Newman, but only one former winner of the Hickory Hundred is on the preliminary entry list, Brandon Ward. Ward has the most experience of anyone in the field at Hickory, with 31 starts across six divisions, but his win in the 2021 race was the only time he’s visited Hickory’s victory lane.

Connor Hall makes his second start of his SMART Tour season and career this weekend. Hall, a former winner in the CARS Tour at Hickory, made his SMART Tour debut at Anderson Motor Speedway last month, finishing ninth. He returns to the Sadler-Stanley Racing No. 16V at a familiar track.

The Hickory Hundred will commence at 7:00 p.m. and can be seen live on FloRacing.
