SMART Tour returns to action with Crystal Coast doubleheader

Racing picks back up this weekend for the SMART Modified Tour with a doubleheader on the Crystal Coast, and some of the biggest names in Modified competition will be in action when the series races at Coastal Plains Raceway and Carteret County Speedway.

19 drivers are on the preliminary entry list for Friday night’s Cardinal 99 at Coastal Plains Raceway, which will serve as the track’s grand reopening, while 20 drivers are set to compete at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway on Saturday.  Both tracks are within 30 miles of each other.

The most notable names include Ryan Newman, Burt Myers, Danny Bohn, Joey Coulter, and Jake Crum.  Newman picked up the win last year at Coastal Plains in a race that was pushed back to Saturday morning, prompting a first in history single day doubleheader.  Later that evening, Danny Bohn raced to his first career SMART Modified Tour victory at Carteret County.
